ayla khan
ayla khan is a New York-based writer-director from Karachi, Pakistan, where she was. She graduated from Yale in 2021 with Honors in History and an intention to pursue filmmaking.
She is currently an MFA candidate at NYU Tisch School of the Arts in the Graduate Filmmaking program.
Her work ranges from narrative to documentary to somewhere in between. It centers passion—in individual spirit and as an essential life force—reflected in a visual language that is testament. She aspires to tell impressionistic stories about intimate relationships with the self and our loved ones, and the contradictory range of human emotions revealed within them. She is also interested in the themes of personal transformations, repressed states of being, delusion as survival, mysticism, and the esoteric explored through women’s subjectivities.
